BrightScript and SceneGraph components use Roku's native Video node for Widevine DASH VOD playback. Connect your existing viewer login, subscriptions and content catalog to the same DRM-X backend used by your other apps. Your backend controls viewing permissions; server credentials stay off the TV. ## A player designed for the TV remote[#](#features) The sample includes fullscreen controls, repeated seeking, playlist autoplay, Next and Previous, repeat, shuffle and resume. Customize the interface with reusable player components and three appearance themes. Viewers can choose available audio languages and clear WebVTT subtitles, including English and Chinese. Optional client-side advertising supports a bounded VAST/VMAP subset with Roku Advertising Framework tracking. ## Get the SDK and try the sample[#](#quick-start) In Developer Tools, select Device SDKs, then Roku TV & streaming players. The customer ZIP includes reusable source, an evaluated sideload app and build instructions. Downloads and confidential guides require active Professional or Enterprise access, including approved Professional evaluations. [Console → Developer Tools → Device SDKs](https://6.drm-x.com/console/developer-tools) Enable developer mode using Roku's official instructions. Try the included demonstration app, then connect your own authenticated backend and published Content IDs. The confidential guide covers installation, API requests, subtitles, advertising and release checks. ## Compatibility and release planning[#](#compatibility) This SDK is a developer preview for Widevine DASH VOD. Qualify your target Roku model, OS, content and backend before release. PlayReady availability varies by device; the sample selects Widevine. Native adaptive quality is supported. Manual quality selection, offline playback, live streaming, casting and SSAI are outside this preview. Roku Store submission and commercial ad-provider approval require separate qualification.
